Privacy Policy

Dev Korea ("Dev Korea", "we", "us") runs dev-korea.com, a job board and community for software developers in South Korea. Dev Korea is an individual business registered in the Republic of Korea (Business Registration Number 178-38-01299, Job Information Provision Business Report ์์ธ์๋ถ ์ 2026-04ํธ).
This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, how long we keep it, who processes it for us, and the rights you have. We follow the Personal Information Protection Act of Korea (PIPA). If you are in the EU or UK, section 10 explains how we also meet the GDPR.
1. Information we collect and why
We only collect what each feature needs.

We do not collect resident registration numbers (์ฃผ๋ฏผ๋ฑ๋ก๋ฒํธ) and we do not ask for sensitive information such as health, religion or political views. Please leave it out of your resume and messages.
2. How we share information
With companies, when you apply. Your application and resume are sent to the company that posted the job, by email and in its recruiter dashboard. That company is then responsible for how it uses your application. Some job postings send you to the company's own site to apply; anything you submit there is covered by that company's policy, not this one.
Talent pool. If your profile visibility is "Public", companies that have been granted talent pool access can see your profile, contact details and resume, and may contact you about roles. An anonymised version (no name or contact details) is shown on the public talent pool page. A "Private" profile is not shown to anyone. You can switch at any time from your profile page.
Legal reasons. We may disclose information when the law, a court order, or a competent authority requires it.
We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it with advertisers.
3. Processors (๊ฐ์ธ์ ๋ณด ์ฒ๋ฆฌ์ํ)
These services help us run Dev Korea. They process data on our behalf, under contract, and only for the purposes below.

4. Transfers outside Korea (๊ตญ์ธ ์ด์ )
Some of the processors above store or access data outside Korea:
- Recipients and countries: Hetzner (Finland), Cloudflare (global), Google, PostHog, Resend and Slack (United States), and Telegram (United Arab Emirates). Contact details are on each provider's website.
- Items transferred: the items in section 1 that each service handles. For example: all site data for Hetzner; email address for Resend; usage data for PostHog; applicant name, email and resume link, and talent profile summaries for Slack; contact details from request forms and merch orders for Telegram.
- When and how: over encrypted connections (HTTPS), whenever you use the related feature.
- Purpose and retention: as described in sections 1 and 5.
- How to refuse: decline analytics cookies, or don't use the related feature. Some features (applying, profiles, orders) cannot work without these transfers.
5. How long we keep it (๋ณด์ ๊ธฐ๊ฐ)

When a period ends, we delete the data: database records are deleted and files are removed from storage so they cannot be recovered. Paper records, if any, are shredded.
6. Your rights
You can ask us at any time to access, correct, delete or stop processing your personal information, and to withdraw any consent you gave. Much of this you can do yourself:
- Edit your talent profile, make it private, or delete your account from your profile page.
- Unsubscribe from the newsletter with the link in every email.
- Change your cookie choice with "Cookie settings" in the footer.
For anything else, email [email protected]. We reply within 10 days. A legal representative or someone you authorise can make a request for you. We may need to confirm your identity first, and we may refuse or limit a request where the law requires us to keep the data (see section 5).
7. Security
We protect personal information with encrypted connections (HTTPS) everywhere, admin tools limited to Dev Korea staff, passwords handled by our sign-in provider and never stored in plain text, and payment card details handled only by Toss Payments.
8. Cookies
We use these cookies:
- Sign-in (required for accounts): keeps you signed in.
- Cookie choice (required): remembers whether you accepted or declined analytics.
- Chat: Channel.io keeps your chat conversation on the pages where the chat is available.
- Analytics (optional): PostHog measures how the site is used, in aggregate. It loads only if you click "Accept cookies" on the cookie banner.
You can change your choice at any time with "Cookie settings" in the footer. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings; blocking sign-in cookies means you cannot use an account.
9. Age
Dev Korea is for working professionals. You must be at least 18 to create an account or apply to a job, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone younger.
10. Visitors from the EU and UK
If the GDPR applies to you, our legal bases are: your consent (analytics cookies, newsletter, public talent profile); steps you ask us to take toward a contract (applications, merch orders, company requests); our legitimate interest in running and securing the site (access logs, internal notifications); and legal obligations (tax and commerce records). You have the rights in section 6, plus the right to data portability and to complain to your local data protection authority.

13. Changes to this policy
When we change this policy, we post the new version here with a new effective date at least 7 days before it applies, or 30 days before for changes that reduce your rights. Previous versions are available on request.
This policy is published in English and Korean. If the two differ, the Korean version prevails.
