As an Engineering Director, you will serve as a member of the top management team, provide technical advice in top management decisions, define the future of the products in the technical aspect, and lead all the engineers in the entire organization. This role directly reports to the Founder & CEO.
Responsibilities
- Contribute as a key member of the top management team by providing all the technical content and advice in every essential decision for the company and organization
- Work closely with PM, Design, QA, Sales, Marketing teams, and CEO to ensure the implementation of product engineering and development plans on time
- Build technical roadmaps and provide technical solutions to issues in product development
- Appraise prospects of new features and the product, drive and accelerate technological changes and innovations of product and teams
- Improve engineering infrastructures and resources to enhance the quality of products and explore new industries such as 3D, XR, and AI for future initiatives
- Deliver technical aspects and vision of the product to customers, partners, and investors
- Manage all ProtoPie engineering teams of full experts in multiple time zones
- Lead and train the engineers by giving detailed technical guidance, and act as a role model for all engineers to manage the engineering performance
- Communicate and support engineers’ understanding of company-wide updates, projects, and business goals
- Design and set up distributed engineering teams in multiple time zones (e.g., PST in North America)
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field
- 10+ years of experience in various technical fields, including IT engineering & software development
- Leadership experience in managing 10+ engineers
- Fluent in English and Korean (written and verbal)
- Strong understanding of current technology trends, especially in web application and cloud service, and the ability to align innovation with business goals
- Strong understanding of backend development
Plus : Preferred backgrounds
- Understanding of SaaS both in terms of business and technical aspects
- Experience in rendering engines for browsers, games, and navigation systems
- In-depth understanding of Java / Node.js (Typescript) Language
- RDBMS experience, such as PostgreSQL
- Experience in Computer Graphics / 3D graphics, and Desktop applications
- Expertise in AI/ML

Working Arrangement
- Flexible working hours (generally from 10 AM to 7 PM KST).
- Full-time position (during the first 3 months—the probation period, the employee will receive 100% of their salary).
