Supabase Launch Week 15 in Seoul β Pizza, people, and plenty of Supabase π
Two weeks ago, our community gathered at Google Startup Campus Seoul for something truly special β our contribution to Supabase Launch Week 15. With 110 passionate developers in attendance, two outstanding talks, mountains of pizza, and an atmosphere buzzing with tech enthusiasm, it was hands down one of our most memorable meetups yet. Huge thanks to our incredible sponsor Supabase and Google for Startups Campus for the fantastic venue, our amazing hosts Florian and I (Serin), plus our 6 superstar volunteers who made everything run like clockwork!
π€ The talks that stole the show
We were treated to two fantastic speakers who shared their real-world Supabase journeys:
1οΈβ£ Supercharging Kakao Login on Supabase β by Miryang (Ria)

Ria took us on her incredible journey of contributing to Supabase's open-source project, all sparked by a genuinely frustrating user experience. Picture this: you're trying to log in with Kakao on a mobile app, but instead of smoothly opening the native app, you're stuck with a clunky webview. Not exactly what users expect in 2025!
Instead of just complaining, Ria rolled up her sleeves and dove into a solution using OpenID Connect (OIDC). The journey wasn't easy β she had to learn Golang from scratch and navigate an entirely new codebase β but her persistence paid off in a big way. The result? An impressive 80% increase in user sign-ups for her service.
Her story perfectly captured what we love about the developer community: turning personal pain points into solutions that benefit everyone. It's a brilliant reminder that even a single contribution can create a massive impact.
2οΈβ£ From scratch ideas to MVP with Supabase β by Rigo

Rigo shared his entrepreneurial journey of building a knowledge management and social app for foreigners, taking us from that initial "what if" moment to a fully functional MVP. His presentation was a masterclass in rapid development.
He walked us through exactly how Supabase became his secret weapon: seamless authentication, real-time chat updates, robust PostgreSQL database management, and reliable asset storage β all delivered with that developer experience we dream about. The speed at which he could iterate and build was genuinely impressive.
One of the evening's highlights was his candid comparison between Supabase and Firebase. His insights into why he chose the open-source route, combined with practical advice about development speed, scalability considerations, and the smart decision to skip custom backend complexity for early-stage products, had everyone taking notes.
π The perfect recipe for community
Great tech talks deserve great food, and we delivered:
- 45 boxes of delicious pizza π
- 34 big bottles of refreshing drinks π₯€
But Supabase really went above and beyond with the swag game:
- Free merch t-shirts that people were genuinely excited about π
- Beautiful Supabase stickers (already spotted on laptops around Seoul!)
- Special coupons to order your own Supabase gear online Let's be honest β people left not only with expanded knowledge and new connections, but also with satisfied stomachs and some seriously cool souvenirs.
π Gratitude all around
This event was a team effort, and we're incredibly grateful to:
- Supabase & Google for Startups Campus for making it all possible
- Ria & Rigo for sharing their inspiring stories and technical insights
- All 110 of you amazing humans who brought the energy and curiosity
- Our 6 incredible volunteers(Alena Kazakova, Gulchiroy Matroziyeva, KΓ©vin RouillΓ©, Kumushai Nazhimidin kyzy, Marcus Buexenstein, Sean Kim) who made everything flow seamlessly from start to finish
π What's next?
Events like these remind us why we're so passionate about building this community β it's more than just tech talks and networking. It's about creating a space where developers can learn from each other, share real experiences (both the wins and the struggles), and grow together over good food and great conversations.
And speaking of what's next β we've got not one but TWO exciting events already lined up!
First up: Dev Korea #1: Permission Impossible - Dead Reckoning Pain is coming this August. Mark your calendars because this one's going to be another fantastic evening!
But wait, there's more! We're also thrilled to announce Dev Korea #2: App Growth Strategies for Taking Your App to the Next Level happening in September. If you're working on an app or thinking about scaling your project, this is going to be incredibly valuable.
